Making the most of your dental insurance
Bloomfield Dental is in-network with most major PPO dental plans. That means lower prices for you, claims filed by our team, and clear estimates before any treatment begins.
Dental insurance can be confusing, so we’ve put everything in one place: the plans we participate with, how PPO benefits really work, and how to get the most value out of yours. If you ever have a question, our team is happy to walk through your benefits with you, in plain language.
Dental insurance plans we accept
We participate with the PPO plans below, along with many plans that use the DenteMax and Connection Dental networks. Don’t see your plan? Give us a call. We may still be in-network through one of these networks, and we’re always happy to file out-of-network claims for you.
*Select plans only. Plans and networks change often, so please call us at (610) 284-4770 to confirm your specific plan before your visit. We do not participate in dental HMO plans.

How PPO dental insurance really works
Here’s something most people are never told: dental insurance works less like health insurance and more like a discount plan.
It’s very good at keeping routine care affordable, and it always saves you money on treatment. But it isn’t designed to pay for everything, especially larger treatment. Knowing that up front helps you plan ahead and avoid surprises.
What PPO insurance does well:
Where it falls short:
Your insurance company shouldn’t get to decide how much of your dental health you’re allowed to have. That’s why we help you understand your plan, and why we offer flexible payment options to bridge the gap.
Your insurance is a gift card and a membership card
Think of your PPO plan like a warehouse club membership that comes with a gift card loaded on it each year.
The gift card = your annual maximum
Each year, your plan loads a set dollar amount onto your card. Your insurance pays its share of your care from that balance. Once it’s spent, it’s spent until it reloads, usually on January 1st.
The membership card = your fee schedule
Because we’re in-network, your plan has a negotiated “members-only” price list with our office. That discount doesn’t run out. Even after your gift card hits $0, you still pay the member price, which is often well below our standard fees.
Let’s see how this works on a crown
Say you need a crown. Our standard fee is $1,500. Your plan’s in-network “member price” for that crown is $1,000, and your plan covers crowns at 50%. Here’s what you’d pay in three situations:
Example for illustration only. Actual fees, coverage, and savings depend on your plan. We’ll give you a personalized estimate before any treatment.
The takeaway: hitting your annual maximum doesn’t mean your insurance stops helping. You keep saving every time you visit, all year long.
Getting the most out of your benefits
Regular cleanings and exams are often fully covered, and they catch small problems before they become big ones.
When it’s safe to do so, we can phase larger treatment over two calendar years to use two annual maximums.
Unused maximums usually don’t roll over. Fall is a great time to schedule care before your benefits reset.
For anything insurance doesn’t cover, 0% financing through Cherry spreads the cost into manageable monthly payments.
Out-of-network or no insurance? You’re still in good hands.
If your plan lets you choose your own dentist, we’ll gladly file your claims so you can be reimbursed.

12+ months of 0% interest through Cherry, plus CareCredit and Proceed Finance. See payment options.
Dental Insurance FAQs
What does “in-network” mean?
It means we have an agreement with your insurance company to charge their negotiated fees. You pay less, and your benefits usually go further than they would at an out-of-network office.
What is an annual maximum?
It’s the most your plan will pay toward your care in one benefit year. Once it’s reached, you still receive in-network pricing on any additional care until it resets.
Will you tell me what I’ll owe before treatment?
Yes. We review your benefits and give you a written estimate before treatment, so you always know what to expect. For larger cases, we can also request a pre-treatment estimate from your insurance.
Does insurance cover dental implants?
Some plans cover part of an implant, while others don’t cover implants at all. We’ll check your plan and walk through all of your options, including financing. Learn about dental implants.
My plan isn’t listed. Can I still come here?
Absolutely. Many plans connect to us through the DenteMax or Connection Dental networks. Call us with your plan information and we’ll check for you.
Do you accept HMO dental plans?
We don’t participate with dental HMO plans. If your plan allows you to see any dentist, we’re happy to file your claims for reimbursement.
